SNARE DRUM
How to Care for a Snare Drum
Basic care for a student Snare Drum so home practice stays fair.
Do these every week
- Heads wear out—replace when dented or toneless.
- Don’t leave sticks on the head in a crushed case.
- Hardware screws loosen; check before concerts.
Red flags (take to a shop): cracks, open seams, keys that won’t close, valves that freeze, buzzing that isn’t “student tone,” smell of mold in cases.
